Okay, maybe I'll talk to you.

I think I need a haircut. It's about that time. To do my laundry too. I need fabric softener though.

Tony's alarm went off early, so I was listening to the radio as I was getting ready for school. By the time I left, it was still going. Silly Tony.

Luckily, when I got back from Chem, the alarm was off, but Tony was still in bed. In fact, he didn't get out of bed until I was leaving for Math, at 1.

News of the midterm. I got 35.8%. Better than last time, still failing. Don't speak to me about it. Ever.

Until then, I did some stuff, such as goof off. I ate lunch, read about the election results.

Math was blah. As usual.

New Testament was fun, since I got to type in Linux. I really like this. It's fun and free.

When I got back, I hecticly read the prescribed reading from Metzger, as there was a quiz in discussion. We sat around and talked (discussed) things, then went into groups to look up stuff. As usual. Fransisco is pretty cool. He's harder to understand than Grishin though.

After that, I was supposed to do my chem lab with Julie, my partner, but her friend was not there. There was a big ordeal about our results not working, so we whined to Slava about it and she said we could use other people's data. So we're going to do it together with new data, now tomorrow.

At 9, our floor went down to the lounge to have personal pizzas. They were surprisingly bad. They used DC ingredients and were cooked at the DC. The only difference was that they were assembled by us. And we're not trained. So the pizzas were actually sub par.

It was fun though. Patrick and I played together, some Tom Waits. Good stories.

Back here, I hung out with Adam for a while. Then I gave Becca a massage. Now I'm here.

Man, I really need to get some work done.

Someday

Why have I yet to start my term paper? It's due Friday. After I write this, perhaps I shall start.

Instead of making something this morning, I opted to eat two of those nutty bready energy bars. It was filling. I got ready by putting on my flower bow tie. I enjoy it.

Meeting was large. We had the entire Riddy house as well as Lily and Marion Pitcher. It took a while to get out of the house.

After meeting, Brandon had a review session of O Chem, so he, Riddy and myself went to the Grad before we went to our respective places of study. I was full, as usual.

I went back to my place and finished my Chem titration graphs. They turned out nicely, except they weren't within the accepted values, so I'm currently waiting for Slava to return my email about that.

I got bored, so I polished Becca's necklace.

Brandon picked me up, and we went to gospel meeting. We figured it would be large, since the entire other Sac field was invited to Elk Grove, roughly doubling the population. Sure enough, the children had to sit on the floor and the adults were very squished. By the end, it was hard to breathe due to the heat that number of people produced.

Marion Pitcher spoke, then Marlene Benjamin, then Dale Schultz.

It took us half an hour to get out the doors.

Brandon had a basketball game not too far after that, so we had to rush to his place. We made it, he changed, then we got into Joe's car. Off to the ARC, I went home.

By this time, it was pouring down rain. It must have been pretty funny seeing a guy dressed up with a bow tie running through rain.

After that, I tried getting my Chem lab to work, but to no avail. I ate dinner, it wasn't great. I played more with Linux. I practiced my trumpet.

Hopefully I can get some sleep tonight. And maybe some paper writing in. I have a Calc midterm on Friday, same day as my paper is due. Should be a fun week.

A Usual Saturday

One of my biggest concerns about this version of Linux is that it doesn't recognize when I close the lid. So it's still running completely when I'm gone. In due time, my friend. In due time.

I woke up at 9 and got out of bed. I decided early on in the week that I would bake a batch of muffins on Saturday. So I got up and baked a batch of muffins. They were good, but I had a dozen and couldn't handle them all. I put three on a Kleenex by Tony's bed for when he woke, then went door to door, lightly knocking to see if anybody wanted any. Of the 50 kids that live here, one responded. It wasn't even as far as getting out of bed, but a loud groan, so I opened the door. Chad was very happy to accept still-warm muffins.

I went back into my room and played with my computer until the afternoon.

Around 3, I decided to get out and do something, so I went to the rock wall. I had some fun times with the climbing attendant, who reminds me a little bit of Marshall. Maybe it's just the rock climbing idea.

Anyway, after chunks of flesh were so peacefully ripped from my body, I went back and performed my after-climbing ritual of soaking and soaping my hands in hot water. It's a painful, yet soothing process.

I did a bunch of stuff. Nothing important though.

I was intending to go to the basketball game, but Riddy had to eat dinner with his parents and Brandon didn't want to go to it because it's a girls' game. That last part didn't quite make sense to me, since Brandon never seemed to be the sexist type. Oh well, you learn all sorts of things from sports.

Editor's note: Brandon - if you're reading this, I know what you meant. Spare your time arguing... I don't really thing you're sexist. But I do know that your immediate reaction would be to set me straight.

So I ate dinner by myself. It wasn't bad, but not great either. Hey, that sounds like the DC.

Afterwards, Jared came into my room wanting to borrow clothes. Now, this isn't the first time he's done this. If you can imagine, and I'm sure you can, I am very protective about my clothes, especially my dress clothes. And at no point did I ever offer anyone to borrow my clothes (except for gay guys and ties... I can trust them for some reason), so I was taken aback when he came and asked for a shirt. Then after the shirt, a tie. After the tie, some pants. And shoes. To which I informed him of the locations of nearby clothing stores.

After a bit of haggling, trying my best not to express my true feelings ([slap] Get out of my room! [shove] [spit] [slam] [lock]), I managed to get him down to just a shirt. The shoes were naturally too small. The tie wasn't necessary for "semi-formal." And the pants were needed by me. But what color shirt? He took way too long deciding. Trying to be helpful (speed up the process), I would offer suggestions as to what else he was wearing. Finally, he decided on the blue shirt, so I went back to my computer. To which he came over and started playing with the things on my desk. At this point, I was more than annoyed. And he knew this too, since he acted with extreme gratitude, as if I rescued his child. With a bit of eye rollage, waving of the hand, and saying, "leave," he was gone.

Later on, he was in Doug's room trying on pants and such and came up to me.

"Jeff, I'm going to be completely honest with you," he exclaimed in a very serious voice as he put his hand upon my shoulder. "I really need your pants."

No. Get your hand off of me and go drink from a toilet bowl.

"I'm sorry, but I need them tomorrow, since it's my only clean pair of pants."

So he settled for Doug's pants, which I believe were too big for Doug, much less Jared.

Later on, I was checking to see what else he was wearing with my shirt. Iron Chef America happened to be on, so I sat down and watched that. Among other discussions, Jared left for some reason, never to return again.

So I sat there for over an hour, since I didn't want to leave his room unattended. Finally, after I was there way too long, I walked out and asked where he was. I found him in David's room playing video games. There I asked him if he still needed my blue shirt, to which he replied, "You mean Doug's blue shirt?" No. My blue shirt. So I went back to his room and got it out of his closet.

I'm pretty sure his borrowing-clothes privileges are no longer.

It turns out the reason for this dressing up is the Semi-Formal for the residents of Campus Housing. So everyone who's anyone was getting ready. In my opnion, they were ignoring the "semi" in semi-formal. The girls were dressed in outfits suitable for Prom. It was ridiculous.

I practiced my trumpet in the lounge. It was fun.

By the time I was showering, the building may have well been evacuated. Anybody that wasn't going to the dance was extremely introverted, so the floor was deserted.

And now I will go to bed.

Odd, in looking back at this post, I realize that Jared is one of my better friends.

Linux!

So I did it. I finally converted. More on that soon.

I woke up, ate, failed a midterm. That being said, moving on.

I did my math homework, ate lunch, did some stuff.

Grishin was as usual. I still enjoy his accent. We worked on finding the centroid.

In New Testament, we finally got back our midterms. I did worse than I thought I did, but still not bad. I got a B, 84%. I only missed fill in the blanks, things I knew I read over once, but weren't there at the time. After that, Hurst lectured more on Paul's Journeys, this time the second and third.

Done with that, I went back, called Jonathan and set a time (6:00) to meet in the parking lot. I did stuff until then.

At 6, I hopped in his car and we went to their place. It was actually a very quaint little home. I enjoyed it. Their puppy, Kramer, half chihuahua half pit bull, was so much fun. He was a friendly little boy.

We ate dinner, a high step above the DC. Then we got down and dirty.

Defrag, partition, install. I left there around 11:30. It was a long, laborious process, made even more tiring with a sleepy puppy on my lap. David would enjoy that house though. There were 5 different computers running, all in various stages of Linux.

Now it's past my time. I've been having enough fun exploring and need to get some rest.

Day?

I'm enjoying the idea of eating breakfast. It's weird coming back from class and thinking to myself, "I'm not extremely hungry!"

Chem was disgusting, as usual. It was way too early in the morning to learn anything, but Slava did her best. Midterm tomorrow. Ugh. She announced that Augustine is having a review session from 7-9.

Raquetball was good, exhausting. I played two games of cutthroat, both of which I won, barely. By the end, I was on the floor due to exhaustion and my arm hurting again.

After that, I did nothing for the next many hours.

Seriously. I walked around, ate, blah blah blah.

Oh, I took a nap. That was great, except I woke up so disoriented. And it was a little before dinner too. I hate waking up from naps then having to eat. I need to fully wake up first. Kind of just shake myself awake, then do a little prep eating before a substantial meal can be consumed. I played my trumpet instead. Man, I really enjoy the sound in the lounge.

At 7, I was in Chem 194, watching the room slowly fill up. It was nearly full. Augustine walks in, this young guy, jeans and a t-shirt. Sits on the table and starts talking. You can tell he surfs, solely by the strategic placement of the word, "like" when he's not careful.

The review was helpful, mainly since he's probably the one that wrote our exam. He's a great lecturer, much better than Kelly. The girl who sat next to me smokes, so I had a headache most of the time. It drove me crazy.

Well, I'm sorry for having such a boring day. Tomorrow's plan is midterm, math, RST, lappy. Go, go, go.

I am tired.

In Chem, I tried to pay attention, as there is a midterm coming up on Friday. Just wasn't happening though. I did eat breakfast.

I sat around and whined at my computer. It is retarded. It found a virus, but wouldn't do anything with it, so it alerted me to the fact that something was there roughly every three seconds, for a period of half an hour. It was only slighltly annoying. What's worse is that it really did happen every three seconds.

I have a lot of stuff. My back hurt.

Math was a little boring. We got out 10 minutes early though. So I went to trumpet ensemble, where we noodled around for an hour. It was smaller than normal. Perhaps we'll do a recording sometime.

New Testament was nice, since we learned that our papers are due a week from Friday instead of this coming Monday. We learned more about Saul/Paul. Interesting fact: Saul never changed his name. His full name was Saul Paulus, Paulus being his Roman name. He just used the name appropriate for the audience. Interesting, eh?

Now back to my place. I am boring.

The DC had a special theme night, chocolate. That meant that the lines were disgustingly long. They had Turkey Mole, and a parmesean chocolate ravioli. And lots of desserts. Wasn't bad.

Meeting was good. I got to chat with Brandon, since it's been a while. I talked to Jonathan about Linuxizing my computer, and it seems this weekend will be up for it. Scary.

Well, I'm dying of tiredom. I ought to get now.

Please disregard that last post. It seems my computer is now back to its disfunctional state. I tried System Repair, but it wouldn't let me. I will talk to my fellow nerds to see what they think.

I'm currently at the Learning Resource Center, on one of their computers. How fun. This means that I'm not on my own computer. I shall summarize my day briefly.

I woke up and ate breakfast, a first. Racquetball was quite a workout, with 3 intense games. I was very sweaty when it came to improv, which went well too.

I tried to get my computer fixed. It works for periods of about 3 minutes, only sometimes. Now is not one of those sometimes. I played on that in the quad, feeling pretty cool.

A while ago, Riddy called me and came over while I was trying to help my computer. We went to the bowling alley, but the league was practicing, so we watched them instead of playing. Then we went to the Grad to watch the Kings game. They won.

At the Grad, there was a person in the booth next to us with a laptop. It was tilted towards the wall, at a very awkward angle. So I stood up and saw that this person was browsing porn. Riddy and I got a good laugh at that. A while later, the laptop closes and we see that it was in fact a manly looking woman, carrying several bags from Rite-Aid. Riddy and I were rather disturbed.

All for now. Must check other things and get to bed.

Wireless Internet

Check it out. I'm sitting in the quad, amidst acres of grass and greenery, on my computer, pretending to type my paper. How cool am I?

So my internet is back working, but it's still a little slow and stupid, making me hesitant to feel great about it. I'm still thinking about linuxizing it, so you nerds out there can keep feeling proud of me.

Ooh, I smell tobacco. I guess this is 20 feet from any buildings...

I must get back to my paper. More about my awesomeness tonight.

I believe my computer is virus'd. I will have to talk to Jonathan about linuxizing it on Wednesday.

My life has been pretty dull. I saw the puppies, then they left. I sat around all day, so I forced myself to play racquetball then go rock climbing. An older man, Doug, was there early, so I played with him for a while. He was much much better than me, so he gave me pointers.

I've been trying to happyize my computer, because it is sad. Perhaps goodbye Windows.

All for now, before it dies.

Rain

I woke up today around 1. I had a very lazy day. I had a cup of water, brushed my teeth, checked my mail, did some nothing. I was expecting the parentals to come for lunch, so I didn't eat.

I hung out in Becca's room with Clay, Diana, Whitney, and Eleazar, talking about good times in the dorms. I had a cup of tea.

Things are quiet around here. Everybody either went home or snowboarding. And it's been raining too.

The family finally came around 4. To my surprise, they brought the puppies. Boy, did I miss those dogs.

I showed them around, we took the fridge to my room. Too many people. Everybody loved the dogs. Because they're awesome.

We went to dinner at Sophia's, a very nice Thai restaurant. It was delicious and I must take Ridders there.

We went back to campus and I got a tour of the ARC for the family. I think the guy really wanted to do something, since it was an extremely quiet night.

We walked around, then went to the hotel and got situated.

That was pretty much the day. It's been quiet and I have sucessfully avoided doing homework. My muscles feel atrophic though. I should have gone climbing.

Falling Asleep

As I sit here, I am drifting off into a land of sweet dreams.

I'll make this quick.

Chem, I was late by about a minute. Nobody cared, as they were all fast asleep in their beds.

Did my math, it was quick.

Math was sleepy. And hot. It's always hot in there.

New Testament was good. On to Acts, starting to summarize the events.

Rebecca called me to pick me up. I went her her place, as there was a big Indian fest going on for some of their friends. There turned out to be a dozen people there, too many for that small a place. Most of the people there were either married or engaged, so Meredith, myself, and another guy bonded over the fact that we're not involved with anyone. And Meredith, Rebecca and I bonded over the lack of medicine in our lives.

The food was delicious. Way too much went into my stomach. The conversations were hilarious though. I'm just glad I was done eating first.

Now I'm back, and not sleeping. Let's change that.

Climbing Again

The title comes from the fact that it's been so long since I've climbed, that's all my body is telling me to think about.

I woke up too early and went to Chem discussion. It was really small, maybe 7 people there. People asked questions, Slava answered, and I made funny noises.

Racquetball was pretty normal. I need to get a court and just drill. I just need to work on my technique and placement. And I need a new glove. And balls.

I went back and did some laundry. Mmmm laundry.

For the rest of the day, I worried about my Spring schedule. My first pass was at 4, so until then, I was constantly checking the open course listings, watching the numbers of the classes I wanted drop slowly but surely. It got to the point where I would force myself to do work and use checking the ocl as a reward. I am pathetic.

But alas, it worked out. There's a cap at 13.5 units for pass 1, so I registered 13. I'm signed up for Creative Writing: Poetry, Physics 9A, and Bible and Film. I'll be waitlisting Calc pass 2, but since it had the most openings, I figured it would be the easiest to get into anyway.

I felt so good after getting my classes, I couldn't possibly do any work. So I didn't. I'm pathetic like that.

I just wasted away the rest of my Thursday. That reminds me, my schedule is going to be hectic next term. For no reason in particular, I'm going to be taking 20+ units. Monday I'll have 7 hours of class, at least. Five of those will be in a row. Tuesdays and Thursdays will be more relaxed, and I'll get out on Fridays at 11. It works, don't touch it.

I decided I needed to go rock climbing. So after writing Claire a note in quill pen, I went. But first I wanted to check my weight on the scale.

Gasp.

I couldn't believe the little arrows. Big one over to 100. Little one... 1, 2, 5, 10, 20... 22. One hundred twenty two pounds. Has the Freshman Fifteen finally caught up to me? Am I finally a reasonable weight? Can I finally give blood? Wow, a whole world awaits me. A world of acceptance, normality, and free cookies.

Rock climbing. Wow. I'm so out of it. No finger or forearm strength. I saw some old friends again. It was all in all good. Didn't get my old dyno though. My arms were shaking too much. I'm going to see if I can get some visitors to the wall over the weekend. I need to show the awesomeness.

Now I am back, heavy, and sore. I need to shower up for bed. And think about doing some math. Tomorrow.

Bo Diddly

Today was as blah as yesterday. It was raining for the majority, creating this nice pathetic fallacy. It was kind of like listening to sad music all day. I started grumbling to myself.

Chem was so boring and monotonous, I could barely stand it. And I was sitting next to a large left handed girl who wasn't using a left handed desk, so my attention was focused primarily on regaining my writing arm space. I think it bothered her too, so she finally got up and moved seats halfway through lecture. I felt liberated. And mean too, but the liberating feeling was more important.

Claire gave me a note. It was very colorful, as she was very bored.

I did some useless nonsense. Oh, I dried my pants on the heater since they were wet. And Tony walked in with me pantless at my computer. I wonder what he was thinking.

I updated Rather Dashing, so check it out.

Lunch wasn't bad. Pannido.

Math was interesting, trying to find the volume of a 3-D object. Grishin was having an interesting time explaining.

Right after that, I went over to Sproul to catch Dr. Hurst for once, and after about 10 minutes of waiting outside his door, I actually did. I only had a few simple questions, since Francisco answered a lot of them, but I think he appreciated someone coming. I asked him about next quarter, if there were any classes he is teaching. One, Bible and Film. I might take that. Seems kind of obscure. Next year, he's going to teach a class on the Synoptic Gospels, and I will definitely take that. I really like this professor. He knows everything about everything. Someone once asked if a verse had any connection with Melchizedek, almost randomly, and he replied, quoting book, chapter verse, of every verse mentioning Melchizedek and how the Jews interpreted them. I, along with most of the students, sat there with my mouth open as he rattled on in detail about something randomly asked. So much knowledge. So much.

Anyway, I got back to my room, collected my computer, and went back over to Everson.

Hurst is sick, so he talked quietly. It seemed he was stalling a bit for time, as the end of his lecture was a little less informative than most. The topic was the resurrection.

Brandon was havng allergies, so did not pick me up for meeting. Riddy did though.

We had a good, small meeting. Quite a few people were absent. Those little kids are funny though.

Riddy dropped me off after, as we cannot go bowling with only two legs.

I've been wasting away my life since then.

Misery

I'm wet. And I'm in pain. And I'm still hysterical.

This has probably been the most miserable day I've had in Davis. But it hasn't been that bad, so I guess that's a good thing.

Bah. Woke up early, went to racquetball. I played hard with Eric for the first while, then played with some other, uncouth players. Bah.

Improv was great. I was tired though. And wet from the bike ride. It's been raining today. Bah. I actually sounded like a solo. It was cool.

I ate lunch rather late. Wasn't spectacular. I read the slate statements for the campaign. Interesting.

I did my Chem lab. I actually managed to do it without whining to Caitin. I whined to Diana this time. It was so nice. She helped me out way more than my confused little self could have managed on its own.

I ate dinner, then went back to the Chem lab. I really didn't do a whole lot in those 7 hours. Just... Chem and procrastination.

At the lab. Well, it was raining, so I wore my jacket rain. I got wet and biked through puddles. Bah.

Lab was labbish, except it was long. Ours took twice the amount of NaOH to titrate than most peoples. We were almost the last people out. It was ridiculous. I was getting so tired and sick of that lab.

You might notice this downward trend to my day. I'm just highlighting the bad aspects though. There were some good things too, but more bad. The bad were more prominent, obviously.

Biking back to my dorm. Pouring down rain, my pants seemed permanently affixed to my thighs. I got back to the dorms, drenched and miserable to remember that the elevators are out of order for "preventative maintenence." So bitterly I walked up the stairs, shaking off my soaked gloves in hopes they would dry better. But lo and behold, the little connector clip breaks off. I am bitter. And once I start feeling nice again, I realized I forgot my bike light on my bike. Back downstairs, in the rain, to the bike. Light still on, on the bike.

Bah.

I had some nice warm cookies though. They were pretty good.

So in order to make me feel better, I have been wasting away my night on the computer. Meh, I feel somewhat better. Bah.

Frightening

I woke up sadly. I actually had to get up. Out of my bed. Which is why I was so sad.

Chem was ridiculously boring. All it was was watching him do things so boring I can't remember. He tried to keep our attention with a demo at the end, but even that was so boring half the class left when he started. This class has gone downhill dramatically.

I went back to my hammock and got familiar with Metzger's story of Jesus. I actually got most of the reading done. Surprising.

Lunch wasn't that bad, except the Italian sandwiches they had were using a new spread that had whole onions stronger than Strong Bad. It tasted pretty rancid. But apparantly I forgot about that, since I ate the second one with and equal amount of shock.

Math wasn't too bad, since most people find it terrible. I understand that doesn't make a whole lot of sense, so let me rephrase that. The entire lecture has boiled down to about 20 students, making it a nice little lecture. And Grishin's accent is still pretty cool.

I quick biked over to Sproul so I could visit Dr. Hurst at his office hours for once. I figured that since the previous two times I visited were near the end of the hour and I didn't catch him, the beginning of the hour would be more promising. I got to his door to find part of the back of an envelope (I'm not kidding, it was 3/4 of an envelope) with a scribbled note saying that he wouldn't hold office hours today. So I was pretty sad.

As I was biking back to the road, I saw Francisco, my TA, and mentioned that Hurst wasn't there. I then got the clever idea of talking to him instead. So I locked up my bike and went to his office. It was the most helpful session I have ever been to. He basically told me what to do, where to go, how to write. He even went into the library database and gave me a list of books to check out. I spent the better part of the hour there.

Because of that, I had to rush back to my room, collect my laptop, and rush back there. I made it perfectly in time.

Lecture consisted of Hurst talking, as always. More interesting stuff, but it felt he didn't do a very detailed job. The topic was Jesus' death, so I just felt a little curious as to why it was so briefly covered.

A quick hop over to Shield's Library gave me two more books to help my paper. These are the New Testament Apocrypha and analysis about it. Should be interesting. Jesus as a child.

Getting back to the dorms, I talked to Negin for a little bit and we arranged a meeting time (15 minutes) and place (her dorm). So I got my boquet (which, by the way, was awesome... I can't believe nobody has complimented me on it), and went to her dorm. Imagine how a girl would react if somebody as cool as myself gave her something as cool as my boquet of cranes. Squealing, blushing, and holding the hands to the face were all in line. It was pretty great. I made somebody's Valentine's Day.

Well, after that, I had to take her out to dinner. So we had a romantic flourescent lit dinner at the Segundo Dining Commons. The food was average.

The funniest part of the meal was when I saw Joe and AJ (Brandon's roommates) walk into the DC and partake in the feeding frenzy. I had to go bug them about it. But they're not ashamed, only hungry.

Quickly after that, I hopped on my little bike and went to New Testament discussion. Pena kept us busy with thinking. He's actually a great TA because of that. And a terrible one too, for the same reason.

Maayan's concert was at 8:00, so I went looking for people with which to walk over to Freeborn. I found Doug, who was going with Aziza and didn't mind me tagging along. So we went to the third floor to find her putting on makeup. Ten minutes later, we were putting on shoes. Finally, we got out of the door at around 7:55. But she decided that she wanted to drive. Fine by me, except the closest parking spot you could find would probably be at the dorms. So she tried finding a spot nearer, when I just proclaimed that I'd catch them later and hopped out of the car.

The concert was pretty good. It was a benefit for the crisis in Sudan, so it was actually doing something too. The keyboardist was my favorite, mainly because he was actually a really good musician.

All I knew about the group prior to watching them was that they're the number one group in Israel. As I was listening to them, I remember seriously thinking to myself, "Israel isn't that big... they probably don't have a whole lot of competition." It just wasn't my type of music. And I was pretty tired, so their energetic music wasn't helping.

I was also put in a bad mood by the fact that the main guy's mic wasn't working properly. They tried to fix it in the middle of a song, disrupting him, then later they had to stop completely because the mic did as well. It seemed to be something that should have been addressed in the sound check.

The singer/keyboardist held up very well. Most musicians I know would probably have blown up, but he carried on a nice little monologue, especially since English isn't a language with which he is extremely comfortable.

But the part that made me mad was when stupid old men that think they're better than you got up and whined at the sound board operators. I could see that they were pretty mad at the disruption of the concert, but honestly, what else could the sound guys do? They were doing the best they possibly could, and anything the fat, stupid men could have to say they would have already known. I can't imagine a situation where that conversation would be necessary. Stupid fat men don't know more than me, and I say they should shut their mouths when it comes to professionals. So just shut it.

Anyway, the concert was so good, Jared and I left early.

Back here, I practiced my trumpet, did my music homework, and played nonsensically on the computer. And by played I mean typed. I don't play on the computer.

Shoot, racquetball tomorrow early. I'd best be out.

Ah, the Day of Rest

Well, Riddy's place was fun. Wait a sec. Back up a bit.

The Safariventure was pretty cool. We knew we were going to be a little late, so we told them about that beforehand. We were only about two hours late. Not that bad.

As the Safariventure show was starting, Riddy and I grabbed some food from the pot luck. It must have been the most poorly communicated pot luck I have ever been to. I think there were four spinach salads, one green salad, two marshmallow salads, and probably a few more unclassifiable salads. And one dish of ham. And an entire table of desserts. Granted, it was all good except for one of the marshmallow salad things, but I simply felt overwhelmed with the amount of spinach there. And most everything on my plate tasted like a nice vinagrette.

Don't get me wrong, the Safariventure was pretty cool and interesting, but... why? None of those pictures were taken during my lifetime. It's worse than Bernie's trip to Israel. Well, probably not, since it was interesting. But still, I thought they might have just gotten back from Africa or something, throwing a courtesy get together showing the things they saw.

I was kind of taken aback when I saw an actual slide projector. "Slideshow" means "Powerpoint." Honestly. Are we needing to collect small sticks to start a fire?

So I figured that they were just a little old fashioned. Hey, it's cool. I haven't seen a slideshow like that in quite some time. They probably went though a little effort to get slides made in this day and age.

But no, they were from the 70's. It's not just hot in Africa... short shorts were in.

Richard and I left at a respectable time. We went to his place and had a sleepover in their living room. It was like we were little kids. Fun fun.

We got up way too early for meeting, around 8. We had a nice, big breakfast. It was unusual. Not used to eating breakfast.

Meeting in their home was nice. A lot of old people and some that I knew. Lunch there afterwards.

I found it strange how the topic over lunch shifted mainly between relatives of mine. But nobody knew that. So they would be talking about someone and I would say, "that's my great aunt." And later, "second cousin." It was kind of disturbing.

Riddy and I left for Sportmart, just to browse. It was kind of funny, since we were wearing our meeting clothes. We probably got asked 5 times if we worked there. I declared that we must go to stores on Sunday more often. I also suggested that we fold clothes, but Riddy wasn't too keen on that idea.

Dick wasn't at gospel meeting, since he had a fainting spell in the hot tub last night. I think they should have left that last part out.

I went home with Jonathan and Jennifer, but we first stopped at Circuit City to pick up a laptop. It made me want a laptop. Any willing contributors?

Now I'm back here. In my time in the dorms, I have successfully avoided starting my term paper, much to my dismay. I finished my awesome crane boquet for my special secret honey valentine. It's pretty awesome. I like the idea and I love the execution. Guys, take hint. Chicks dig men who can fold paper.

Now I must get ready for bed in hopes that I will read a little from the library books.

Early post. Going out to dinner at the Aunt and Uncle's, then staying with Riddy's parents.

I woke up late, it was nice. I'd have to say that most of my day was spent with Doug. It was a good thing though. He came to my door to get me out of the building. We went to the softball game then later to the baseball game. Aside from the fact that it was drearily boring, it wasn't that bad. Then we went to Rite-Aid so he could get some chocolates for Aziza. How romantic. I got soap for me.

That's pretty much been my day so far. I really need to get started on my essay for New Testament though. Five to seven pages, due a week from Wednesday. And the family will be coming up next weekend, so I need to get that done soon. At least mostly done. I'll have to get back early after meeting tomorrow. Should be interesting.

Man, I don't do a lot on the weekends.

Woke up, went to Chem. I had a hard time staying awake, especially since he posted the lecture notes ahead of time.

I got back, copied the math homework from the answer book, and created a new blog. If you feel like it, check it out occasionally. This will still be updated daily, but that will probably be more interesting to read. But I was really bored.

Math was boring.

New Testament was interesting, as usual. He said some stuff.

I went back and said happy birthday to Whitney.

I went to the Grad with Riddy. We split and finished a large pizza while watching the Kings game. I got bored, so I went to the Pavillion and watched the gymnastics team against Sac State. We lost by about 1.2 points. It was really interesting to watch gymnastics live. I went back to the Grad and we got kicked out at 9:45. We went to boba afterwards, Riddy's first boba experience. He liked it, mainly because we ended up shooting the balls at cars. We hopped in the car and drove around looking for parties, but after a block, we made a U-turn and went back. Now I'm here and really tired.

I love Thursdays. It means I get up early so I don't have to waste away my day. Okay, that part isn't so great. But I get to play racquetball after a little nap in Chem discussion. And racquetball was pretty fun today. Tiring, but fun. The games were still pretty sad, but at least a little competetive.

After that, I showered up, put on my black slacks, pink shirt, red bow tie, and put gel in my hair. Then I hopped on my bike to the music building. The best part was all the funny looks from people.

Our performance was actually really good. After us was Paul performing a solo, then Nick's brass quintet. It was pretty fun. I enjoyed it. It ended up being more formal than I thought it would, having an audience of over 50 probably, in the main theatre. There even was a program.

After that, I went to lunch with Jared. I took a nice little nap. Somebody was knocking on the door, but by the time I realized it was a real person, they were gone and I wasn't about to get out of bed.

I got up and blah blah blah got a call from Riddy wanting to know if I wanted to play racquetball. So I made a court reservation for 6. We got there and played. He got a new racket, $200 marked down to $80, so we'll probably go there tomorrow to check them out for me. I played with his for a little bit. You can totally tell it has much more power and control. It's awesome.

Then we went to the basketball game next door, where we found Joe, AJ, and Brandon. But before we sat with them, we were standing up at the top and they were shooting pitas out of a huge canon converted from a paintball gun. So these pitas actually came at us. Riddy got one and I picked one up off the ground that had broken open. It was delicious.

On our way to see the boys, I talked to an army booth guy who gave me a carabiner and a dog tag. More free stuff.

While we were there, they shot tube socks out of the same pita canon and I caught one. It was a very eventful Aggie Pack day for me.

The game was men's basketball against UCSB. We won, but it was a struggle keeping the lead. We had it since Rids and I got there, but you could tell it was a huge fight. We won though.

Riddy and I went to In-N-Out afterwards. It was good.

Now I'm back and tired at 11. Good for me. I need to sleep more.

Complete Exhaustion

Man, I am tired. I didn't get to bed until 2 last night after a long and tiring day. And then I woke up at 8:20. So I'm a little out of it. I have been all day.

I don't remember anything that happened in Chem. It was very slow.

I studied some more for New Testament, mostly by going over my notes, reading Metzger, and reviewing the Greek terms. I had an email chat with Jayna.

I went to math. The lecture was boring. But we got our midterms back. There were two 10 point problems I screwed myself over with. I would have gotten a B+ if I answered them right. Simple things too. But I was pushed for time and didn't go back over them. Bah. Hopefully there's a curve.

Trumpet ensemble wasn't as great as normal, since I was so out of it. But there's a concert tomorrow, so we went through our set, how to do everything, blah.

We took our midterm in New Testament. I've never felt so excited about a test. I knew so much information, and most of it came out cleanly. There were about 4 fill in the blanks I wasn't sure about, but knew what I wasn't sure about. I felt I nailed the essays, throwing everything I knew in there, numbing my hand. The essays were on what caused Mark to write his gospel and the details of the temptation of Jesus. I was going to get to one point of Mark, how it was written to answer two questions, but that was to be at the end of the essay and I forgot. So hopefully I'll get at least 10/20 on that. Blast. But I totally schooled the temptation question. I was pulling in random things just to prove I knew them. I sure hope I can retain this stuff.

After that, I was feeling great, so I had a relaxed rest of the while. I really should have taken a nap. But I didn't. I ate dinner, went to meeting, went bowling afterwards. I should have gone to bed. I missed out on the white trash party on our floor, but oh well. Now I go to bed.

Study Study

Today I actually studied. Like, really studied. Go me.

Woke up rather slowly. It was the first time in a long while I actually hit the snooze button. But it gave me 8 more precious minutes of sleep. So good.

Went to racquetball early. I played cutthroat with John and Eric. It was actually a very intense game and played very well. After that, I played another pitiful game, then one actually rather competetive. He won, despite the fact that I knew I should have. I just accounted that to the fact that I was dead tired and on the verge of fainting due to hunger. But I was talking to Eric a bit afterwards, on how I'm not used to people who don't wait for the ball to bounce and he said something along the lines of, "Once you get really good, it's hard to go back to playing the uncivilized style." So I thought that was funny how I can play comparably with really good people, but I have a hard time with beginners.

I went off to improv. I was so tired, it was all a blur.

I ate lunch and things were better. I did my Chem lab write up and pre lab, actually getting that done early. It was weird. So I called up Negin and asked if she wanted to study early. So we got together in the Thompson Lounge and studied for an hour or so, just going through my notes. Then we ate lunch with her friend May.

From there, I went to my lab.

It was a long lab, so by the end I was really over it. Titrations and such. It lasted 2 and a half hours. Much longer than normal. But I got it over with. The post lab should be evil though.

I got back and called Negin. I went back to Thompson and finished going through the notes, with various members of the class coming by. It was good though. I finally got out of there at midnight, but only on the account that I needed to get to bed for chem tomorrow.

So now I'm here and tired and hungry. And dirty. I go.

Yuck. I need to shower.

So my day went as normally. Except I've been really tired in all my classes. Yawn yawn yawn. I should be in bed right now.

Chem was pretty boring, as usual. Again, he didn't post the lecture notes until after class, beyond the point when we needed them the most. Bah.

I read for New Testament. On the life of Jesus. Well, it was some reading and a lot of other stuff. mostly other stuff.

At lunch, in one of the lines, Stupid Questions Girl was next to me. There was nobody else there, but she insisted on almost touching me. It was the most disgusting part of my day. When I moved, she moved. I was about to make some comment on how she doesn't have to stand right next to me or that I hate her with a loathing passion, but that would mean interaction with her. And that's just bad.

Anyway, math lecture. It was hard to stay awake. I don't even remember what he was talking about. We get our tests back on Wednesday though. I remember that much.

I got back to the dorms and packed up my stuff. I wanted to go to Dr. Hurst's office hours to ask him about the paper, if there's anything I should do, etc. But he wasn't there. Second time that's happened. So after lecture, I asked when his hours were. Same time, same place. Bah.

So I quick hopped over to the bookstore to pick up a copy of the course catalog, since my pass 1 is on the 17th. Coming up. So soon.

Then the lecture itself. Midterm Wednesday. He said some interesting things, most of which I typed in my notes. I remembered something he said a while ago that I may or may not have written here. In speaking about how Jesus is portrayed in the different gospels, Mark shows Him as always moving about. So he said, "Mark's Jesus is always in such a hurry, you just can't nail Him down." That got quite a few groans, some laughs, but also many gasps.

I read some more from Metzger. Then I ate dinner.

Off to New Testament. We continued an activity from two weeks ago, but most everybody forgot everything. We learned a bit though. I don't know what, but it was interesting.

After class, I talked with Francisco about my paper. I think I've finally decided on the topic, that being the Virgin Birth and the prophesy in Isaiah. Hurst spoke on that in class and I thought that was one of the most interesting things he had to say. So I might as well learn some more about it.

I went to library and checked out three books on the topic. If you're doing the same topic, I'm sorry, but pick another one.

I got back and did some stuff. At 9, I went and played racquetball with the club. That was really fun and tiring. Now I'm still sweaty and gross and blah. And I have to play again in 9 hours. I ought to go. Take a shower and stuff.

Sundiddlyday

Well.

I woke up rather abruptly to the sound of my alarm. Actually, I looked at the clock and it said "91." This frightened me, so I moved my comforter and it read "9:17." Much better. Three minutes later, I fell off my bed onto my alarm clock, shutting it up.

I got ready and found Richard Walker awaiting me. He was looking very tired.

We went to the Fleck's for meeting. It was nice, since I don't normally go to that meeting. I actually don't normally go to the meeting we're supposed to, but that's beside the point.

Afterwards was a pot luck, which made me very full.

Richard was looking tuckered out, so we went back to his place so he could take a nap. I sat around and played with Miguel's family.

Fun story. I saw Miguel had about 6 racquetball racquets lying on his floor and commented on them. He then asked if I played. I replied in the positive, then went on to say that I need to get my own racquet. He then told me to take one.

It turns out he doesn't use all of them. Imagine. But somebody knew he played raquetball, so they gave him a racquet. It's not that great, since it's a two piece. But because of that, Miguel has never used it and never will. So he just gave it to me. Brand new. I had to unwrap it. Wow. My own racquet. But Riddy still feels he needs to get me a one piece. I actually need a new glove and some balls. Maybe we could switch that around.

Oh, on a random note. I've decided birds are cool. I'm thinking about looking into getting a little bird to keep our place happy next year. Any ideas? I miss the puppies, and a little birdie friend could be pretty cool.

Gospel meeting was really small. My favorite part was watching the entire Barry family come in at different times. Kent Williston, Dick Middleton, and Lyle Schultz.

Afterwards, Riddy was still tired, so I went home with Jonathan Stickel. He's a pretty cool guy. I would even dare to say that he's cooler than Greg. Not to say that Greg isn't cool. But they're both geniuses, and Jonathan drives a motorcycle.

They just got a motorcycle. We went home in a sedan.

Back at the dorms, I was supposed to have a study date with Negin, but she asked to postpone it until 9:30. So I went and ate dinner, then played a little racquetball with my new racquet. I like it a lot better than the rental ones.

When I got back, I called her, but she asked to postpone it until tomorrow. Silly girl.

So now I've just wasted away me day waiting for her. I guess that's not unusual though. Hum. Bedtime.

What a Waste of a day!

Well, I woke up early, around 10 or so. Big plans today. I was going to study with Negin, then go stay with Riddy and go to Union meeting from his place. Nope, not a chance.

I've been wasting away my day doing pointless things.

I ate lunch at 2, just before the DC closed.

I went to the ARC to work on my racquetball form, but they were all full. So I went climbing instead until the hour was done. Then I checked back with them, but they were still all full. So I went upstairs and three of the courts were empty, but I didn't want to raise a fuss.

On the way back, I saw Patrick and Whitney lying on the grass, so I went and had a nice chat with them. Then I went back to my room and soaked my hands in some hot water. That feels really nice after climbing.

I did some more wasting away, playing some trumpet, etc.

I went to dinner at 7, right before it closed. I ate with Doug and Aziza (a palindrome), then hung out with Joe. Pretty boring.

I made a mix tape to send to someone. Well, not a tape, a cd. And not a cd, a playlist. Man, I need more stuff. A cd burner would be nice. My dvd drive is broken. The little clippy thing that keeps the cd in place is loose, so when it spins, it gets loose and whirs really loudly. Es bad.

I got bored and went to the piano. But on my way, I stopped by Jarrett's room. I got distracted for about an hour. Then I went and played. On my way back up, I stopped by each floor. Fourth was pretty interesting. There were a surprising number of people there on a Saturday night.

Now I'm back here. And tired and bored. I will go to bed.

Midterm One, MAT 21B

I woke up, did some stuff, then went to Chem. Before that, Tony's alarm kept on going off, so I got to hear periodic radio updates/parts of songs. It was cool though. He got so much sleep last night. I am very envious. Man.

Chem was boring. We almost fell asleep as a class. Right at the end, he said that he left enough time for the demo, but forgot to bring it. Sad. That would have kept us awake.

I went back and studied for math. Weird. Me, study? Actually, it consisted of me doing my math homework, but still. That's sort of studying.

I ate lunch, went back to studying.

I went to my math midterm. I've been hearing terrible things about Grishin's tests, mainly that they're handwritten and you can't distinguish between n's and u's, things like that. And that his tests cover nothing that we went over in class. But it wasn't that bad. Maybe 21B is different than 21A. Or he changed. But the test was typed and tested us on things we really should have known. The one question I was unsure about I knew what I was doing wrong, so it was cool. It was essentially asking to prove the Mean Value Theorem for definite integrals, by asking to find a C such that the definite integral from a to b of f(x)dx is equal to the definite integral from a to b of Cdx. I just forgot that rule. I remember looking at it, but not reading it. Too bad. I think I did most of the other stuff right though.

I went back, very relieved. Then I packed up my stuff and went to New Testament.

I noticed for the first time that other people have brought in laptops. That's because it's cool.

We went over the Temptation of Jesus as well as the choosing of his apostles. One of the more interesting things we learned was the difference between an apostle and a disciple. "Apostle" comes from a Greek word meaning "sent," so it only refers to people who were sent by Jesus Himself. Therefore the only apostles were the ones who were apointed the title while Jesus was alive. Disciple, on the other hand, simply means one who is following the discipline of another. So today we can be disciples of Jesus, Ghandi, whoever. I thought that was a nice little tidbit.

After that, I noodled around for a while. It was Jennifer Stickel's surprise birthday party at the Johnson's, so I called Riddy and got ready for that.

They were arriving at 7:15, so we should have been there at 7:00. But there was traffic, so Riddy didn't get to my place until 7:05. We got to their door at about 7:15, so we were walking very carefully up to their house. But they hadn't arrived yet, so we went right on in.

There were a lot of people there. Aside from Riddy's roommates, nobody college age though. It was still fun. I hung out with all the little kids. It was some good times. We played stupid games and I genuinely played with a Magna-Doodle. Those things are great.

Chips, dip, apples, celery. Ping pong, cake, blah blah blah.

I'm back now, and more exhausted than ever.

Hum. I'm not THAT tired. I could put up with a few hours of studying. Nah. Tomorrow.

Discussion for Chem was tiring, as always. Even Slava was tired, as always. We left.

Racquetball was fun, but not really. I really miss playing with Eric and John. There, I was motivated to play hard so they could play hard back. But with all these other people, it's just so terrible. It's hard to care when you know you're going to slaughter someone. And it's not that fun because you know they feel terrible, so you feel terrible as well. It's just pretty bad. I was playing really poorly.

I had the rest of the day free. I spent my time actually opening my math book and doing some homework. That was a surprise. But there is a midterm tomorrow. I still have a few hours after Chem though. I can work it.

I did my laundry today. It was one of those desperate batches of laundry, where when shifting things over, I have to change clothes in order to wash more. Fun times.

After lunch, I went out to boba with Brandon. There's a sneaky little boba house across the street that I have yet to check out. It's rather good. I need to get more of those lactose pills though. It is potentially murderous for the system.

I did some stuff.

Oh, I actually went to math discussion today. I looked at the clock and it was ten to four, then I looked at my schedule and it started at four ten. It was surprising. As I was there, I realized that I hadn't been missing much. Man, Robin is still a terrible TA. I don't understand why anyone would clap for him after any lecture he gives. He didn't teach you anything. Just made you more confused.

Well, I worked on the homework some more. I went to dinner with Doug. I got back and practiced my trumpet in the lounge. That room has surprisingly good acoustics. I think I'll play in there more often. It just had a beautiful full sound.

After doing some more math, I took a break by playing the piano. When I was done, I got in the elevator, took it to the fifth floor, then went back down to the piano and played some more.

Now I am here. I'm going to shower and go to bed, getting some rest for the day ahead.

Stupid Printer

My printer is stupid. It says it's out of ink, so I replaced the ink cartridges. It still won't print. Stupid stupid. I guess I'm going to have to go to the LRC to print, at least until I get cartridges for the new printer I now have.

Woke up from uneasy dreams. Went to Chem. Stupid Questions Girl asked if the percents on the midterm were out of 100. Way to go, you're stupid.

I tried to take a nap, but it didn't really work. I got sidetracked by my computer. I went and ate lunch. It was actually really good. There was a nice BLT wrap. Delicious.

After that, I packed up everything and went to math. Grishin was gone again, so Mr. Robin whatever taught us. Blah. That reminds me, I need to do my homework for that class.

After that, I went to Trumpet Ensemble. That was really fun. I've just been really tired though. I can feel my eyes start to droop. All day long.

Then I rushed over to Everson for New Testament. We learned stuff. Oh, for the first time somebody asked for my notes. I feel like I've done some good in the world. In a Religious Studies class even!

Then back to the music building for a lesson with Scott. First lesson of my life. It was interesting. A lot more talking and a lot less playing than I expected. But he gave me some stuff to work on. I think I might try out for the Symphony Orchestra next year. That would be pretty fun, especially if I can screw around with Nick. What a great guy.

Now back to the dorms. Stuff. Blah blah blah. Went to dinner with Jared and Mohammad. It wasn't bad. Well, most of it was. Some of it wasn't bad.

Off to meeting with Brandon. It was surprisingly short for our meeting. We were on the road by 8:33. To In-N-Out. Then after that we went bowling. Pathetic scores. Three games, mainly working on palming the ball though. I didn't even break 100. How pathetic.

Now I'm back and writing fragmented sentences about my day. I need to get some sleep before the discussion tomorrow at 8.

Well, it's too late. I need to go to bed.

My arm is getting better. Racquetball still hurt. I need to feel better and start climbing again. I feel sad.

Instead of playing with Eric and John, I played with Laura, a pair from Coach Jones. It made me sad, since I got used to playing with people much better than me. It was odd winning games.

After two games, we switched up partners and I played with another guy. He was left handed, which took me by surprise. Oddly enough, he could return better from his backhand. I guess that's the side he's used to getting though. Not to sound cocky, it was a pathetic 15-0. Needs improvement.

I hiked my way over to the music building where I spent two hours having fun. We got some new songs. Girl from Ipanema, Forest Flower, and Here's That Rainy Day. All pretty cool songs. Stuff to work on.

Then I had lunch. It was actually pretty good. I filled up. They had tacos. And they were good.

Oh right. I worked on my Chem lab. I got Caitlin to help me, since she did it over the weekend and understood all of it. It's online now, so you have to get everything right in order to move on. It's silly, I know. Stupid even. But I finished that with hours to spare. I felt so on top of things.

I did my prelab and then went to dinner with Doug and Adam. It was a lovely dinner, with pancakes and a tenderized pork thing. Lovely company as well.

I went to my Chem lab. I got really tired in the middle of it. We watched pretty colors happen. Pretty pretty colors. Slava would get excited over the colors. It was funny.

On the way back to my room, I stopped by the piano and played a few tunes. Then on the way back up, I stopped by 2nd floor and ended up staying there for about an hour. There are some cool people. It was rather nonsensical though. They had an empty water bottle chandelier. Cool.

I peeked in Chris and David's room and they were watching a movie. It was about a gay conversion camp. To make people straight. It was interesting. In a comic sort of way.

Sorry this is all so choppy. I really need to get to sleep. I'm not seeing straight.
